In September 2014 students from VCU and UKZN visited The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to meet legendary Ndebele artist Esther Mahlangu and officials from the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa (Ms. Nowetu Ethel Luti, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission; and Mr. Ndumiso Mngadi, Third Secretary: Public Diplomacy) at the installation of Mahlangu’s VMFA-commissioned murals that flank the entrance to the museum’s African collection.
